In this year's Association conference, NZ Arb cordially invites you to join them for their Annual Conference and Awards Dinner to be held at the Napier Conference Centre on the Saturday of 16th November 2019.
The venue boasts of their location situated on Napier's Marine Parade, the Napier Conference Centre is the ideal venue for this dinner event with panoramic views over the Pacific Ocean spanning from Mahia Peninsula to Cape Kidnappers. Only a walkway separates the venue from the sea and Napier’s beautiful CBD with its Art Deco architecture, bars and restaurants, many attractions and activities, just a five-minute stroll away.
Dish Catering will be providing the meal of a sumptuous buffet on the night. They are fortunate enough to have worked within some of the most spectacular venues within the Hawke’s Bay. They are the exclusive caterers at The Napier Conference Centre and promise to create a menu that is bold in flavour and is immaculately presented, so not only will it taste amazing, the dishes will look incredible too. With the benefit of 10 years of catering experience, they know how to design a menu that is appropriate for this occasion, thus ensuring the food that will delight.
The Awards celebrate the success of New Zealand’s Tree Climbing Champions and others that have dedicated their time and passion to the industry of Arboriculture.
This year we present awards for arboriculture excellence:
Tree Climbing Champions
The Ronald Flook Award
The Presidents Award
Volunteer of the Year Award
New Arborist of the Year Award
NZ Arb Services to NZ Arboriculture Award
The awards presentation is then proceeded by an auction to raise funds for the infamous Sempervirens Trust. A worthy charity established in 2011 for the purpose and intent of the Sempervirens Trust (the Trust) is to; ‘provide for the maintenance and/or advancement of any minor children, provided that a parent of that minor child has deceased, and that the deceased parent was a member of the New Zealand Arboricultural Community’.
SATURDAY SOCIAL FUNCTION – HAWKE'S BAY SITES TOUR
For those delegates not attending the National Tree Climbing Championship, there has been a social function organised to take in some of the sites around Napier/Hastings.
Chauffeured around in Napier’s Art Deco viewing platform bus, you will be starting off the day at Zeffer Cidery where a tasting and nibbles have been arranged.
Moving on to lunch at the Bareknuckle BBQ (lunch at own expense) and finishing with a stop at Te Awa Winery for a sample of their product.
Starting and finishing at the Conference Venue (NCC), the bus will be leaving promptly at 10.30am and we hope to have you returned to the venue by 3.30pm with plenty of time to get ready for the Conference and Awards dinner.
Tickets are an extra expense but the experience is well worth it!

NZ ARB STUDENT MENTOR LUNCH – IN ASSOCIATION WITH TREETECH
It’s not often you get a free lunch, but here is your opportunity!
NZ Arb, along with 2019 sponsor Treetech, invite you to attend a free Student Mentor Lunch, 12.00 – 1.00pm, Friday 15 November, at the 2019 NZ Arboricultural Association Conference in Napier.
The lunch is open to all students able to be in Napier at the time of the conference, who are either studying arboriculture full-time, or who are working in the industry as a trainee in their second or third year.
There will be a selection of experienced mentors from the industry at the lunch, who are prepared to share their experiences, the pathways they took, and answer your questions.
They are people who are passionate about arboriculture, trees, and love what they do. They include current NZ Arb and ISA board members, and leaders in the utilities, municipal, and contracting sectors of the industry.
Sitting down for lunch with industry mentors, you will be able to learn first-hand about the career pathways each mentor took, options available to you, and the types of training you may want to consider to further your career.
After the lunch you are welcome to view the arb trade fair, sit-in on afternoon conference sessions – especially designed SMART Speakers Stream (link page), or check-out the action at the National Tree Climbing Championships.
Again, this is all free to you.
The following day, tree climbing continues with some of our best climbers competing for the prestigious national master’s titles.
