An environmental scientist turned coordinator, campaigner, organiser, networker and environmental advocate, Mels works with many community organisations including the Kauri Rescue Trust, The Tree Council, Revive Our Gulf and Living Wage Aotearoa. She is Chair of the Titirangi Residents & Ratepayers Association and Secretary of The Tree Council and is probably best known for her kauri dieback advocacy work.

In the UK Mels worked for Environment Agency Wales for 9 years. In NZ she has mostly been self-employed. Mels has lived in Titirangi, West Auckland for 23 years since emigrating from Wales & enjoys hanging out with her horses and dogs.
